Blue Joanna

Blue Joanna is my gluten-free heaven. We found this place just after I was diagnosed with coeliac disease back in 2021, and it was my first experience eating out gluten-free. We have been back countless times since, and it’s still as good (if not even better!) as that first time. The entire menu is gluten free, and we have loved every dish we’ve tried. The food is tapas-style and is a really interesting mix of Asian, Mexican and South American flavours. There’s always exciting specials in addition to the regular menu items, and we never visit Blue Joanna without ordering their signature blue tacos and the marinated skirt steak. We normally order 4-5 mains and a couple of sides between us. Last time we visited, the food was even tastier and the portions even bigger than before, and we struggled to finish it between us! Not only is the food amazing, the atmosphere at Blue Joanna is really special. The owner’s and staff are so welcoming, and the place is really small and cosy with a soundtrack of vinyl records. There’s a great menu of cocktails, all with a unique twist, and it’s a great place to pop in for a drink at the bar as well as for a full evening. What’s more is that in the four years we have been going to Blue Joanna, the prices have barely increased and we always come away feeling that the food was such great value. My one piece of advice is to book a table in advance! It is almost always fully booked (especially on Friday and Saturday nights), so it’s crucial to book a table to avoid disappointment.
